I remember exactly where I first heard Azure Ray. I was watching the 2005 indie film Winter Passing, starring Zooey Deschanel. At the beginning of the movie, Deschanel’s character drowns her cat and Azure Ray’s “Rise” plays in the background right afterwards. Yeah. Heavy, heavy shit. But that’s what brought their enchanting, ethereal and melancholy tunes to my attention.
Azure Ray is comprised of Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink, and the contrast of their vocals always blew me away. Los Angeles fans will get an opportunity to see them perform live for the first time since 2013 at the newly-opened Lodge Room on Saturday, January 20.
Tickets to see Azure Ray at the Lodge Room cost only $16.00 and are on sale now. Doors to the show open at 8 PM.
