Blondfire to play The Echo for monthly Play Like a Girl residency

Los Angeles indie pop artist Blondfire will headline a special all-female bill at The Echo for the monthly Play Like a Girl showcase — this one taking place on Sept. 24.

If you listen to KROQ Locals Only, you’ve no doubt been exposed to Blondfire’s dreamy tunes — probably “True Confessions.” We’ve been a fan of her music dating back to discovering “Walking With Giants” via some serious Spotify sleuthing.

Play Like a Girl was born out of a collective of LA-based women who want to “create a safe space for women to connect, create and prosper.” If you’re interesting in reading more about their awesome origin story, read the well-penned feature over at LA Weekly by Artemis Thomas-Hansard.

The Sept. 24 show at The Echo also features Lauren Ruth Ward, Emma Cole and Starcrawler. Tickets are reasonably priced at $8 and $9.50. The show has a curfew-friendly 5:30 doors time with the show ending by 9 PM.
