British siren Joy Crookes announces first proper LA date at The Roxy

British singer Joy Crookes has announced today her first-ever U.S. headlining date with a stop April 2 at The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, CA before heading to Boston, Philadelphia, New York and Washington, D.C.

A South Londoner with Bangladesh and Irish roots, Crookes is a vocalist and instrumentalist whose voice and musical style has been compared to that of Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill. She wore a dramatic and stunning golden cape with a hood inspired by her South Asian roots and was twice nominated at last night’s BRIT Awards (in the same company as Adele, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa and Griff), previously honored with a Rising Star nomination at that award show in 2020.

The Roxy date serves as one of Crookes’ first proper U.S. tour dates since releasing debut album Skin in October 2021. Standout tracks on the new album include the retro “Feet Don’t Fail Me Now”, the trumpet-heartbreaker “When You Were Mine”, the harmonious, reggae-hued “Trouble” and the sultry soul track “Poison”.

Crookes was set to open for Harry Styles at London’s O2 Arena pre-pandemic, she has played Glastonbury Festival and already debuted on late night television on Late Night With Seth Meyers and The Late Late Show with James Corden. Joy Crookes’ effortless vocals and elegance are unmatched and she is one to keep an eye on this spring, with The Roxy tickets going on sale February 11 at 10 am PT with a pre-sale February 10 at 10 am PT.
