FESTIVAL GALLERY: Inaugural Smokers Club 2018 the definition of flames

This past weekend marked the first year of a new Goldenvoice hip-hop festival in Long Beach — The Smokers Club 2018 took Queen Mary Park by storm.

Wiz Khalifa performed Kush & OJ on Saturday night as a headliner, with Kid Cudi closing things out on Sunday night. Other marquee performances included ScHoolboy QIsaiah Rashad, Mac Miller, 2 Chainz, Lil Pump, Flatbush Zombies, and numerous others.

Trippie Redd had to cancel and was replaced by Young Thug on Saturday, and the crowd didn’t seem to stoked on the switchup. Yung Pinch and Lil Skies attracted large crowds for their sets and solidified themselves as names worth watching. Yung Pinch debuted an unreleased new song featuring Lil Skies at the festival.

Schoolboy Q was the most energetic performer Saturday night, energy he had despite smoking a blunt that came flying onto the stage (also making the festival live up to its moniker).

On Sunday, Mac Miller brought out MadeinTYO. Flatbush Zombies brought a ton of energy to their performance. Kid Cudi shut things down by flashing his million-watt smile and drawing from his cavalcade of hits.

Long Beach has long been neglected but festival promoters are starting to really bring some quality shows to the area over the last handful of years. The Smokers Club comes across as yet another feather in the city’s cap that will bring people back to the LBC.
