The Toronto-based group will be dropping their third full-length album Future Politics a week from today, January 20 (via Domino Recording). You can listen to the album early via NPR’s First Listen. Lead songwriter and vocalist Katie Stelmanis has said the album is “a commitment to replace the approaching dystopia,” and it’s evident with the first two released tracks.
So far, two tracks from the record are available via all the streaming sites. Title track “Future Politics” seems destined to make it to the dance floor — whether the original version or remixes that I expect to pop up in the wake of the album’s release. The song has a certain LCD Soundsystem quality to it. Stelmanis shines on the track. The same goes for lead single “Utopia,” which reflects Stelmanis’ words of optimism.
