Governors Ball 2017 lineup: Tool, Chance the Rapper, Phoenix headline

governors ball 2017 lineup

The Governors Ball 2017 lineup dropped Wednesday after Coachella and BottleRock got the lineup party started on Tuesday. It’s quite a fine mix.

The festival’s top line features Tool, Chance the Rapper, Phoenix and Childish Gambino. Lorde, Flume, Wu-Tang Clan, Wiz Khalifa and Logic are also featured prominently.

The festival returns to Randall’s Island from June 2 to 4 in its seventh year. Tickets are on sale. The general admission 3-day pass price is $305. VIP tickets start at $600. Single-day tickets are now on sale for $105 plus fees. You can see each day’s lineup below.

Other interesting names on the undercard that haven’t been featured on many other lineups include Cage the Elephant, a set of Mark Ronson vs. Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Beach House, Air, Franz Ferdinand, Bleachers, Charli XCX, Royal Blood, and Beats Radio host Zane Lowe.

Lower-billed acts worth investigating include Chance’s pal Francis and the Lights, killer electronic producer and singer Roosevelt, burgeoning pop star Dua Lipa, and British singer-songwriter Barns Courtney.

Governors Ball was one of six festivals I attended in six weeks last summer. I had a lot of fun, though it definitely targets a younger demographic than most festivals and has a bit more of a mainstream vibe. The third day last year was canceled due to the grounds being ruined by heavy rain the day before.

Still, singing and dancing to HAIM and later The Killers in the rain was one of the highlights of my year — even though the island is a huge pain in the ass to leave when the festival ends.

On Apr. 25, Governors Ball announced their late-night show lineup. Charles Bradley and Tove Lo will play separate shows Thursday, June 1. There are also shows from Warpaint, Gryffin, RUFUS DU SOL, and many more. Check out the full slate of shows here!
