Governors Ball 2020 lineup: Tame Impala, Missy Elliott, Vampire Weekend top bill

The Governors Ball 2020 lineup is here!

Headlining the 10th-year festival are Tame Impala, Missy Elliott, Flume, and Vampire Weekend. The festival takes place at Randall’s Island Park from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7. The lineup also features Stevie Nicks, Solange, Miley Cyrus, Ellie Goulding, RUFUS DU SOL, H.E.R., and Portugal. The Man amongst the top names.

This is the first year that Governors Ball is going to be 18-and-older. Thank GOD. I attended this festival two different years and the amount of entitled NYC trust-fund teens really ruined the vibe there for me. Hopefully this goes a long ways towards building a better atmosphere. Perhaps this is a reaction to when there was a storm at Governors Ball and the underage demographic acted totally unruly and destroyed some property. This change might attract people like me back to the festival after being previously turned off by the vibe in previous years.

Other names on the lineup include Summer Walker, Jon Bellion, Khruangbin, Carly Rae Jepsen, Maren Morris, Of Monsters and Men, Milky Chance, Bleachers, Banks, Danny Brown, Gryffin, Steve Lacy, Madeon, Alessia Cara, Girl Talk, Pink Sweat$, Pinegrove, Snail Mail, MUNA, YBN Cordae, Charly Bliss, Sasha Sloan, Poolside, Jay Som, Charlotte Lawrence, Nasty Cherry, and more!

We’ve seen a lot of these performers before — this really is a strong lineup top to bottom with a variety of genres. There seems to be less of a focus on hip-hop than in previous years and more indie names on there — an interesting switch-up for the usually mainstream fest. I like the change personally but we will see what the response is.

Tickets to Governors Ball 2020 go on sale Friday, January 17 at 9 AM Pacific Time. Three-day general admission passes begin at $285 and three-day VIP passes begin at $625. Get them here!
