Khruangbin turn the Greek Theatre into vibe city

It’s so awesome that Houston three-piece Khruangbin have reached the level of three sold-out shows at the Greek Theatre. I remember seeing them in a small tent at Desert Daze 2017 while I was on a half-eighth of mushrooms. It was at that moment I realized the magical powers of Khruangbin.

Now they’re headlining massive venues, playing as headliners and sub-headliners at major festivals (like Outside Lands 2021 where they were on the main stage as the sun went down last weekend). And with good reason. They bring the house down with tremendous vibes and Wednesday at the Greek Theatre was no different.

They grooved, the crowd was full of oohs and ahs, and they hardly took a break on stage. Laura Lee was gorgeoous in an outfit fit for space, and guitarist Mark Speer and drummer Donald Ray Johnson Jr. were as swaggered out as usual. In reality, most of us wish we could be just like them.

“Pelota” was my favorite of the show, and the crowd seemed to dig it just as much as me. The Greek Theatre housed the sound of the band wonderfully, as it filled the open space and went perfectly with the beautiful backdrop of the hills.

Don’t miss Khruangbin tonight at the Greek Theatre if you missed their first two shows! Otherwise, catch them at a festival near you!
