Lapsley returns to LA in November at Mayan Theater

It’s been a whirlwind 2016 for 20-year-old singer Lapsley. Her debut album Long Way Home dropped back in March. She’s been on the road all over, including stops at Coachella and Outside Lands. Now she’ll return to America for a headlining tour that includes a date in Los Angeles.

Lapsley will headline the Mayan Theater on Wednesday, November 16, wrapping up a two-week tour that starts in New York. She’s being compared to Adele. When I saw her at Outside Lands a few weeks ago, that was all people could talk about. Somehow she sounds even better live than on her gorgeous debut record, with songs “Love is Blind” and “Hurt Me” particularly magnificent.

The tour is her second run through North America. In between Coachellas last year, she performed at the El Rey. In addition to announcing her new tour, she dropped a video for the DJ Koze edit of “Operator,” one of the singles from her record. Lapsley came up with the concept for the video herself.

“The video Is inspired by an amazing night after my first ever Berlin show, when a group of friends took me out and introduced me to the city’s drag scene,” she said according to a press release. “That night’s stayed with me ever since and I wanted to pay homage and say thank you – this video’s as much for that scene as it is for me. Berlin’s also the city that first embraced Koze’s brilliant Operator edit so I wanted to return there to make the video, and try and create something that feels really timeless.”

You can watch that at the bottom of this post.

Tickets to the Mayan Theater show are priced at $22.50 and doors open at 7:30 PM. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 26 at 10 AM Pacific Time.
