MainFest Alhambra 2017 cancelled

Unfortunate news for fans who purchased tickets to MainFest Alhambra. The festival announced Tuesday they have cancelled “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

The festival was set to make its second appearance in downtown Alhambra on September 9, headlined by Purity Ring. Ghostland Observatory, BROODS, Classixx, Polica, Poolside, and Gavin Turek were also part of the phase one announcement.

Here is the statement in full from the organizers of MainFest Alhambra:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, organizers for Mainfest Alhambra have officially cancelled their September 9 event.

It would have been the sophomore year for the music festival, which had a successful debut last year with headlining act, Capital Cities, and other performers such as Miami Horror, Nite-Funk, Dead Sara, Thee Commons and SWIMM.

The Mainfest Alhambra team regrets the necessity for the cancellation, but wanted to ensure that they deliver the high-quality festival experience that was originally envisioned and executed in 2016, as well as what they feel concertgoers deserve.

Mainfest also extends apologies and thanks to all the music fans who were planning to attend the festival. Refunds or credits for tickets can be processed through Ticketfly or through the outlet where buyers purchased their tickets.

Southern California music fans who blocked off part of their weekend for September 9 still have a couple options. The recently announced SunStock Solar Fest takes place that same evening, featuring Robert DeLong, Ra Ra Riot, and local favorites like the Soft White Sixties.

Ohana Fest is also returning to Dana Point that same weekend, now three days instead of two, as well as High and Low Fest in San Bernardino and Day N Night in Anaheim. Perhaps that is why MainFest decided to pull out of going on that weekend, the crowding of other festivals.
