Men I Trust playing the Echoplex in June

One of my favorite discoveries this year has been Montreal indie pop act Men I Trust, and they’re finally bringing a show to Los Angeles!

The trio will play the Echoplex on Thursday, June 21. I caught them at SXSW 2018 last month after being obsessed with their song “Tailwhip”. The one show of theirs I was able to make it to in Austin shook me out of a serious hangover. The bass-driven tunes are a perfect match for the soothing lead vocals of Emmanuelle Proulx.

“We’ll be alright, stay here sometime, this country dog won’t die in the city,” Proulx croons in the chorus of “Tailwhip”. It’s a song that would have perfectly fit the scene in Garden State where Zach Braff’s character takes ecstasy and the scene time lapses forward. Which is a lot to say it sounds in the same vein as the actual song from that scene, Zero 7’s track featuring Sia on vocals called “Waiting Line”.

The Echoplex gig marks the Los Angeles debut as the band hits the west coast for the first time. They put out a new song “Show Me How” back in February and are still gearing up to put out their debut full-length record. The song has a very Air vibe to it, the kind of thing you’d throw on while attempting to take a nap on the couch.

Tickets to see Men I Trust at the Echoplex are priced at $12.00 but go to $17.00 the day of the show. It is an 18-and-over gig with doors opening at 8 PM. Don’t miss your opportunity to see this awesome up-and-coming band! I definitely already circled this show on my calendar of what is a busy June.
