Men I Trust release new song “Seven”, play Camp Flog Gnaw

Montreal dream pop trio Men I Trust just dropped another mesmerizing song, and another raw music video to go with it.

The song is called “Seven”, and again features the hypnotizing vocals of Emmanuelle Proulx at the forefront. The song kicks off with a sexy guitar riff and relaxing bass line. The chorus is simple — it’s basically the perfect song to spark a joint poolside to. The video features their three friends that have been staples of past Men I Trust videos “Lauren”, “You Deserve This”, and “I Hope To Be Around”, filmed at a friend’s country house. Watch the video for “Seven” below:

I caught Men I Trust’s LA debut show earlier this year at the Echoplex and was blown away by their grooviness. They’ll be back in LA a couple more times before the end of the year — first opening for Wild Nothing at The Regent on October 26, and then as part of Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw in November.

Their name stands out on the Camp Flog Gnaw 2018 lineup because they’re really the only band in that indie pop genre on the bill. Tyler the Creator personally picked them, and according to an interview with i-d, Tyler reached out to them via Instagram.

“Tyler just wrote to me on Instagram,” Proulx said. “He said ‘I like you guys.’ That was it,” notes Men I Trust vocalist/guitarist Emma Proulx. “He seems like a pretty cool guy… I said, ‘Thanks for the opportunity,’ and he said ‘I love your music, when are you going to release an album?’ As simple as that, as if my sister was texting me.”

Their debut album is set to release in February of next year and I’m ready for it. This band was easily one of my favorite discoveries of 2018 and I’m ready to hear more from them.
