Orville Peck’s fourth annual rodeo a welcome tradition at Greek Theatre

The mysterious Country artist Orville Peck’s 4th Annual Rodeo took place at the Greek Theatre on November 2nd. The lineup consisted of Vincent Neil Emerson, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, and of course a headline set from Peck himself. The emcee was Jaida Essence Hall.

Peck has done a great job hiding his identity the last five years with his real name and age being unknown and with his fringed mask no one knows what he looks like. What is known about Peck is he was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, his father is a sound engineer, he did voice over work for cartoons, and had already toured with musical theater productions before becoming a Country artist.

With just two albums Pony (2019) and Bronco released this year, Peck has certainly become a big name in the Country world. Peck has performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live as well as the Stagecoach and Coachella Festivals and this past summer the Palomino Festival at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. Over the last three years, Peck has won two Libera Awards and has been nominated for a Juno Award, GLAAD Media Award, and two Queerty Awards. This year Peck received the Cultural Icon Award from the Tom of Finland Foundation, an award received by former Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins, author Clive Barker, Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford, and filmmaker John Waters.

Peck played a 13 song setlist opening with “Big Sky,” his first single of Pony and joined by Vincent Neil Emerson for George Strait’s “All My Ex’s Live in Texas and Molly Tuttle for Rancid’s Olympia, WA before being joined by a surprise guest for the encore. Noah Cyrus performed “Let Me Down” with Peck for the encore.
