Sylvan Esso drop new song “Radio,” new album due November

After seeing Sylvan Esso perform this song all over the country the past few years, they’ve finally released a studio version of it.

The electro-folk duo have released “Radio,” a song they’ve been performing the last few years that’s never failed to get crowds hyped up. We saw them a number of times on the festival circuit in 2015 (Coachella, Hangout, Sasquatch, Bonnaroo) and again at the Fonda Theatre and they get better and better each time out. We’ve been anticipating new music ever since and it’s finally here.

Nick Sanborn works his magic as the producer of the two on the track. It features some heavy bass and really kicking things up a notch from the minimalistic approach they took on their breakthrough 2014 debut album. Amelia Meath’s lyrics are as feisty as ever. Sanborn’s beats are extremely dancey on the track, a perfect match for the energy Meath brings as a live performer.

When she asks, “Don’t you wanna sing along?” the clear answer is yes. This new song had us thirsting for new material as soon as we first saw them perform it.

The song will be available November 18 via a 12” that will be released via Loma Vista Recordings. They will release their second full-length record in 2017 and have a couple tour dates to end the year. Expect them to preview some new material at these dates.

One such date is a spot on the new Long Beach festival Music Tastes Good on September 25. Tickets are still available and they’re reasonably priced. The Saturday lineup features The Specials, Iron & Wine, Warpaint, Dr. Dog, Melvins, Vintage Trouble, Girlpool and several others. Single-day tickets are $75.00 and it seems like a pretty good deal.
