The Japanese House announce Echo show for December

British dream pop act The Japanese House will finally make their first headlining stop in Los Angeles to end the year. A date at The Echo has been announced for Wednesday, December 7.

I first stumbled across them at Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta back in May. I had no previous introduction and was swooned immediately by the dreamy vocals of Amber Bain during their early-day set. When her set wrapped up it felt like the end came way too soon. If you recall Imogen Heap’s vocoder harmonies with admiration, you should definitely check this act out. Or if you like Bon Iver or James Blake. The 20-year-old Bain’s songwriting is mature beyond her years. It’s so easy to get lost in the many beautiful layers of her music — see for yourself on my personal favorite, “Cool Blue.”

Opening the show will be fellow UK act The Big Moon. Their song “Cupid” has been blowing up for awhile and they’re definitely worth getting to the venue early for.

Some LA fans were lucky enough to get a taste for them when they opened for The 1975 at the Shrine earlier in the year. Her Clean EP was co-produced by George Daniel and Matthew Healy of The 1975 and is a really strong effort. You can check out the video for the title track at the bottom of this post. The EP was dropped back in November and can be purchased via Dirty Hit Records. You should also check out her first EP from last year, Pools to Bathe In.

Tickets to the show at the Echo go on sale on Wednesday, August 24 at 10 AM Pacific Time. They are priced at $12.50 and the show has an 8:30 PM start time. It seems like this might be one of the only opportunities to catch her in a cozy, intimate venue in Los Angeles, so jump on this one.
