One of my absolute favorite live bands has a show next week and we’ve got TWO PAIRS of tickets to give away! The Fleetwood Mac-meets-Wilson Phillips sister trio HAIM are playing a show at the Fox Theater in Pomona just before they’re set to play Coachella 2018!
HAIM has been touring in support of their excellent sophomore record Something To Tell You since it dropped last year and will play a gig before heading to Indio for back-to-back weekends. I’ve seen them a dozen times, and they proved at the Greek Theatre last year that they’re only getting better. They played a 90-minute show for the first time I can recall, complete with a sweet Tom Petty cover in tribute to the singer who passed away.
I’ve always been of the opinion that HAIM shines better live than on their studio recordings. They don’t get nearly enough credit for their high-level musicianship and it really shines through when stripped of some of the production that’s on their records. Danielle is a mean guitarist and Este can really slap the bass. All three can sing with the best of them.
