Tinashe, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie get The Novo moving

Rising Los Angeles R&B and pop singer Tinashe was at home in Los Angeles on Saturday night. She dropped her bangers alongside some fierce dance moves to an adoring crowd at The Novo. Bronx rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie opened things up.

I’ve seen Tinashe perform live enough times to know that she’s as consistent as they come. She’s been promoting her album Joyride, which finally dropped this year after a lengthy delay. We caught her at Air and Style 2018 back in March, and it was great to see a full show from the talented Tinashe.

She calls to mind Aaliyah with her equal abilities as a singer and dancer. She looked fabulous in a silverish white outfit that gave her full range to dance. Though fans were certainly down for all of the Joyride album cuts like single “No Drama”, old favorites like “Party Favors” got big cheers as well.

“Ooh La La” has a vintage R&B feel to it, like something that would have gotten the major music video treatment. The crowd vibed to that one as hard as anything. She turned the tempo down for her ballad “Fire and Flames”, sitting atop the steps as she stretched her voice as far as it can go.

Tinashe will be playing the festival circuit in support of Joyride this fall, with Bumbershoot and both weekends of Austin City Limits on the docket for her. Don’t miss her next time she comes around!
