Transviolet flexes pop muscles at hometown gig at The Echo

Local indie pop four-piece Transviolet played a hometown gig at The Echo on Monday night — and it was easy to figure out why they have so many famous fans.

Transviolet has been lauded by the likes of Katy Perry and Harry Styles and they were the headliner at the latest edition of Popshop West on Monday night.

Lead singer Sarah McTaggart’s sultry rap-sung vocals call to mind Lorde meets a more innocent Kesha, especially when you take into account the production. This comes across most on their latest single “Bad Intentions” with its “Homemade Dynamite” vibe to it. The song was a definite crowd favorite.

Despite only a couple of EPs to their name, the band played more than a dozen songs. A full album will hopefully come out sometime this year.

Opening the show were Los Angeles duo Magic Bronson as well as Madge, a new Los Angeles musician that’s joined the mix. Check out photos of all three acts below!
