Vacationer, Sego pack a killer one-two punch at Teragram Ballroom

Vacationer Teragram 2018 mainbar

Friday night, a dope doubleheader came to the Teragram Ballroom as Philly indie pop outfit Vacationer was joined by LA band Sego!

Vacationer is touring in support of their record Mindset that they dropped back in June. If you’re a fan of electro-pop, you can think of Vacationer’s vibe as being a more upbeat sounding Phantogram. Singer Kenny Vasoli has a vocal style reminiscent of Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt, and he put the crowd in their feels right out of the gate.

Vacationer pulled pretty much equally from their three releases for their headline set. New cut “Magnetism” had the crowd dancing and singing along to the tune’s catchy chorus. No song got a bigger pop than their closer, “Good As New” — with its groovy synths and Vasoli’s wonderful falsetto shining brightly.

Sego has been dropping new tunes in 2018, and they gave a lengthier preview of what they’ve been working on during their opening set. It’s only in the last year or so that Sego expanded from the original duo of Spencer Petersen and Tom Carroll to include bassist Alyssa Davey and multi-instrumentalist Brandon McBride. They’re slated to drop a full-length record sometime this year, and we’re hoping it’s sooner rather than later!
