Watch: Julia Jacklin cover The Strokes on ‘Like a Version’

Fresh off delivering one of our favorite debut albums of 2016, Australian singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin was in the Triple J studios this week.

“Like a Version” is one of the greatest running segments in radio, as the Aussie station brings in musicians to perform one original song and a cover. Jacklin was in the studio to perform the powerful title track from her debut record Don’t Let the Kids Win, but also give her slowed-tempo take on The Strokes’ classic jam “Someday.”

The Aussie singer has a bit of Angel Olsen meets Lisa Hannigan meets Jenny Lewis with The Watson Twins vibe to her. My favorite track off her debut record is “Pool Party” — I recommend giving it a listen.

I first caught Julia Jacklin as an opening act for fellow singer-songwriter Julien Baker at the El Rey back in August and was quickly blown away. If you’re interested in catching Jacklin around these parts again, she will be in Los Angeles headlining a show at the Bootleg Bar on Friday, April 14. The event is 21-and-over and is priced at $12.00.

Watch Julia Jacklin cover The Strokes below, and run and get tickets to see her in April!
