Jess Williamson announces new album, shares new song “Say It”

I became infatuated with Jess Williamson after reviewing her 2014 debut album Native State for LA music blog Grimy Goods. That’s why excitement quickly brewed inside of me after the Austin-based singer-songwriter announced she’ll release the follow-up Heart Song on November 4, including the new track “Say It” along with it.

“I wrote ‘Say It’ about a strange drive I had on this highway between Terlingua and Alpine in West Texas,” Williamson said, via FADER.

“I was a shell of myself, exhausted on a soul level, like barely hanging on. I think I was pretty terrible to be around. In the end, the cure was just being alone in a dark motel room for a couple hours feeling sorry for myself, and then finally going to the bar to get a beer and some fries. It’s a driving song. When we went to record, I wanted the sound to reflect the landscape out there.”

Williamson will be touring as an opening act for Kevin Morby in the UK this month but expect her back in LA soon, as she’s been spending lots of her time in the area this year.
