Joey Dosik commemorates new album with sold-out Troubadour show

Joey Dosik Troubadour 2018 mainbar

The same day he released his much anticipated debut full-length album, Los Angeles neo soul and jazz singer Joey Dosik turned up at the Troubadour for a sold-out show.

Inside Voice dropped Friday via Secretly Canadian, and for those who have seen Dosik play the LA scene regularly the last couple of years, it was a long time coming. It was the second of two nights at the Troubadour, which kicked off a tour that takes him across the country through September before he goes on a European jaunt, returning to the States in October.

Dosik’s voice is classically mesmerizing. I’ve been a fan ever since seeing him open for Matt Corby in January 2016 at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever. He reminds me of Randy Newman, but a bit more updated for 2018.

Dosik played through most of the new album, with a highlight being his new single “Take Mine”. The ballad showcases Dosik’s range wonderfully. He played the sultry old favorite “Game Winner” as well. On the strength of this album, I don’t expect Joey Dosik to struggle to sell out venues the size of the Troubadour in LA moving forward.
