Electric Guest share new HAIM-backed song “Dear to Me”

It’s been almost five years since we’ve heard any new songs from L.A. pop duo Electric Guest, but they’ve come back with a banger.

The lead track off their new album – due out in early 2017 – is called “Dear to Me” and features everyone’s favorite Valley sisters HAIM on the backup vocals. It’s dripping in synths and feels like it could’ve come out of the peak of the Laurel Canyon music scene.

As far as how the HAIM sisters came to be involved, frontman Asa Taccone shared the story with FADER, who premiered the track Thursday:

“Matthew (my bandmate) had a job at this studio in L.A. that had all of these old synthesizers from the 70s and 80s lying around. I came in one afternoon for just a few hours and we played around with as many of the instruments as we could, then recorded most of the rest of the song in my bedroom. One of the Haim girls lives down the street from me, so one day all three sisters came over with some other friends of mine and after hanging out for a few hours we went into my little studio and recorded the chorus vocals. I recorded them on one mic. It’s easy with them because they’re been singing together for years so they blend super well.”

The band is performing an intimate set Thursday, November 17 at Monty Bar. We will be there and look forward to hearing whatever new tunes they have in store.
