Weekly DTLA series ‘Wonderland’ bringing live music back to MTV

MTV is starting to bring back the “music” aspect of “Music Television.” One such endeavor is the network bringing a weekly live music series to their airwaves that will take place in the Imperial Arts Studio in downtown Los Angeles. The series is called Wonderland and will blend together live performances from some of the hottest-rising artists in a unique setting.

The show is hosted by a trio of personalities — Steak, Lizzo and Myke Wright. Steak is a prolific social media maven who has close ties to the LA music scene. Lizzo is the magnanimous female rapper and pop musician that you should know if you don’t already. Peep her video for “Good as Hell” for starters.  Myke Wright is a jack of all trades who counts standup comic, artist, painter, and rapper among his repertoire. Each week, a different trio of musicians will be featured and interviewed as they perform their songs live.

The series kicks off Thursday, September 15 at 8 PM PT/11 PM ET with performances from BROODS, Tinashe and Ty Dolla Sign. We’ve seen all three of these perform, but getting a chance to see them take turns within the same setting will be pretty special.

Wonderland will air live every week with tickets becoming available to fans for free via the 1iota site. 1iota is known for staffing events such as Jimmy Kimmel Live’s outdoor concert series. Click here to put in for tickets to future episodes. The promo for the show was first dropped on the network’s biggest night during the MTV Video Music Awards. You can watch the video below. Get excited if you’re an LA resident. If not, no need to have FOMO: you’ll get to watch all the performances from the comfort of your couch.
