He will play shows Monday, November 12 through Thursday, November 15. The Austin musician last played the Fonda in March of last year when his show opening for Eric Clapton at the Forum was cancelled due to the legend getting sick.
He also played two shows at the Fonda in December of 2015. I caught two of those shows as well as his Greek Theatre gig in October of 2016 and a special intimate Village Studios performance for KCSN last year. If you aren’t seeing Gary Clark Jr. live then what the fuck are you doing with your life?
Gary Clark Jr. is in my opinion the best guitarist under the age of 40. He’s also such a good guitarist that his voice gets severely underrated. He played some new material Sunday at Arroyo Seco Weekend that sounded like it could have been Leon Bridges. He hasn’t released a new record since 2015’s awesome The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, but he will likely have something out by the end of the year.
Tickets to see Gary Clark Jr. at the Fonda Theatre four nights in November are priced very reasonably at $39.50 and go on sale Friday, June 29 at 10 AM Pacific Time. There is an American Express pre-sale beginning Wednesday, June 27 at 10 AM PT. There is also a Goldenvoice pre-sale Thursday, June 28 at 10 AM PT using the password FIREWORKS.
