Joy Formidable set Immanuel Presbyterian acoustic gig

Welsh alt-rockers The Joy Formidable are going to strip it back for a special acoustic tour — stopping at the immaculate Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Koreatown for a February 25 gig.

The band released a new EP titled Sleep is Day, which features a couple acoustic tracks. Earlier in the year they released the killer full-length record Hitch, which they toured behind at The Roxy and The Wiltern earlier this year.

The church is ultimately one of my favorite venues in LA. I saw Damien Rice and also Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins at this venue deliver two of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The Joy Formidable took time to go into the crowd at their Roxy shows to play acoustic songs, which was a staple of their shows on their recent tour.

Tickets cost $29.50 and go on sale Friday, December 9 at 9 AM Pacific Time. The venue is a small one, so try and nab these fast before they go.
