Day Wave to play Troubadour in November

Oakland-based lo-fi superstar Day Wave will play an LA date in November.

The project of Jackson Phillips will return to southern California on Wednesday, November 2 at the Troubadour. Day Wave was last in the area for an opening slot for Psychedelic Furs as part of the Santa Monica Pier’s Twilight Series back in July. There he put together a mesmerizing performance with his melancholy power pop.

Phillips plays all of the instruments on his recordings but brings additional musicians on tour to bring the music to life. If you’re a fan of acts like Alvvays, Day Wave should be right up your alley. Actually, Day Wave’s chill tunes should be up anyone’s alley.

I first caught him as the first act at Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta last year. It was funny to me that in order to discover someone from my own hometown, I had to travel across the country. He wowed me pretty much right away, and this was his first performance at a festival ever.

Tickets to the Troubadour show are priced at $15.00 and are on sale now. Doors open at 8 PM. The show kicks off a series of dates that has Day Wave traveling across the country. So don’t miss your chance to see him.
